A Diet Bites the Dust

Well, I didn't reach my goal of 180 by the end of 2008. I got close at one point...187 in November. But after the holidays came through I packed almost all of it back on...not quite.

At my heaviest I was 209. At my best last year I was hovering between 190 and 193. Just after New Year's Eve, which included lots of diet breaking binging, I weighed in at 199.

So, here I sit 19 pounds over my goal for the year. I think I can burn this off fairly easily though. It just takes a common sense approach to eating and regular workouts.

Take the salad instead of the fries. Choose diet or lite. Go for non-fat or reduced fat. Only have two beers, not four. Have steamed versus fried. Eat more veggies. Drink more water.

And by all means...get off your butt and exercise. I've got any easy to do calisthenics for home, and I'm starting to play racquetball twice a week for an hour or more. Wow! What a workout you get from racquetball, and it's fun!

So, as I start the new year a little lighter than last year, I'm dead set on reaching my target of 180 pounds. I'm gonna make some fat bite the dust instead of my diet.
