A Small Business Bite

My wife works in human resources at a local Bakersfield business. Recently she's taken on a new opportunity in addition to her 9-5 job: independent consultant for Arbonne. Will she make lots of money doing this? Probably not doing it part-time, but we know a few in town that are making a very good living selling Arbonne products full-time.

We think Arbonne has some great products. They primarily offer heath, skin and well-being products. The products are all botanically based with few, if any, preservatives, artifical colors, salt, caffeine, etc. They do not test on animals either. The products work just as well as any others out there, but without all the harsh chemicals.

The company was founded in Switzerland, but all products are made in the USA. In fact, the home office is in Irvine, CA about a two and half hours south of us. So, it's great to be able to support a company that manufactures its products in the US and is a California Company.

Judy has already had some success and made some extra spending money. She just got her website up and running. I think she'll have a fun time doing this and I think she's off to a great start for 2008.

A Few Less Bites

Since moving to Bakersfield, I've packed on a few extra pounds...then lost those few extra pounds...then packed on a few more, and a few more over these holidays. I've really got to make use of all the outdoor sports available here in Bakersfield. Running my own appraisal business really takes up a lot of my free time. I frequently work on the weekends and late into the night. Something has to change in order to get in shape.
I'm a member of the local Bakersfield Elks and they have a gym. I'd love to make use of the racquetball court there, so I'll need to just schedule time to go to the court. I've got equipment at home that I need to use for exercise rather than for shelf space. There is a great bike trail - I think 22 miles - along the Kern River that I can use for riding, running, and walking.
Since we are right in the middle of the holidays, I doubt I'll have time to get this all organized until after the first of the year, but I need to start scheduling the time to set aside for exercise and for setting up the equipment. I'll also need to take a look at my eating habits...after the holidays of course.
I'll start posting on this topic at least on a weekly basis to track my progress. Today, I weighed in at 203.5, dry. I should be 180 unless I pack on some muscle.

My First Bite

Well, there's no use in waiting for this to get cold. Let's dig right in and take a big bite of this new blog.

As part of my business, I have two business related blogs, but I thought it was time to start a new blog that isn't so serious. I'd like to share some of my personal interests such as 4-wheeling, fishing, and SCUBA diving. I'd also like to be a little more creative on this blog instead of trying to create real estate related content all the time.

With that said, I think I'll get started working on a few posts about my FJ Cruiser and some of the current books I'm reading. For now I'll sign off and start working on these on the side...on Google Docs of course, or maybe I'll just create some drafts here.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope to be back soon.
